Lifeworks is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that individuals with autism lead healthy and enriched lives by providing essential clinical services across the lifespan. Founded in 2013, Lifeworks provides residential, vocational, and educational opportunities for adults throughout Northeast Ohio with a diagnosis of autism. Among its array of services, the agency offers behavioral health and Applied Behavior Analytic services for individuals of all ages who are on the spectrum.

Position Summary:

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is part of an innovative team of professionals who are expected to provide the highest caliber of treatment and intervention for Individuals with an autism spectrum disorder. They will deliver evidenced-based interventions utilizing applied behavior analysis to facilitate skill acquisition and independence in various treatment goal areas highlighted within individualized treatment plans. As part of a comprehensive service program aimed to enable the Individual to live and function successfully and meaningfully in his or her home and community, the RBT will provide services in the life space of the client; i.e. home, community, and center when applicable.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide 1:1 ABA therapy in home and community based environments utilizing a combination of intensive and natural environment teaching.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention plans developed by the BCBA and seek out appropriate consultation.
  • Aid in the management and modeling of socially acceptable alternatives to challenging behaviors.
  • Accurately collect data on target behaviors and skill acquisition programming.
  • Participate in timely completion of assessment, data collection, and progress notes.
  • Provide verbal and written progress updates on treatment goals to families and supervisor(s).
  • Plan and deliver organized activities and routines to optimize success in the home environment.
  • Actively participate in supervision with BCBA.
  • Adhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) RBT Code of Ethics.
  • Properly handle emergencies such as injuries and acting-out situations.
  • Assure the safety and well-being of each Individual while promoting independence and respecting each Individual’s choices, needs, and rights.
  • Protect clients from physical and emotional harm emanating from themselves, others, or the environment.
  • Initiate and facilitate all necessary communication with members of the team.
  • Maintain sensitivity to the racial, cultural, and developmental backgrounds of Individual clients and the group as a whole.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, or related field preferred. High School Diploma required.
  • Lifeworks offers field work experience and supervision hours for BCBA and BCaBA candidates.
  • Lifeworks offers RBT certification for qualified candidates
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge and experience pertaining to autism spectrum disorders, including functional analysis of behavior and behavioral management.
  • Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes, and abilities.
Experience:
  • Experience working with Individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their families preferred.


Salary and Benefits:

The alary range is $19 - $24 per hour depending on relevant education, experience, and licensure. (High School Diploma is $19, Bachelor’s Degree is $21, Bachelor’s Degree plus experience is $22, and Master’s Degree is $24)
